The dishwasher fine drain mesh filter sits at the bottom of the wash tub basin to continuously strain the recirculating water. By capturing fine organic food soils, wet debris, and sediment during the active wash and rinse periods, it stops waste from re-depositing onto clean plates and glasses. This screening mechanism also shields the inner drain pump assembly from debris blockages. Over time, heavy grease glaze, calcium mineral scales, or tears in the mesh screen can restrict downward fluid travel. When the filter becomes clogged or torn, the appliance will leave gritty films on dishes, fail to drain completely, or emit foul odors.
