Part 140126615024 Refrigerator Compressor Defrost Drain Pan
Purpose
Collects and evaporates refrigerator defrost water runoff.
Details
The defrost drain pan attaches to the bottom area of the refrigerator, mounting above or adjacent to the compressor assembly. During the appliance's automated defrost cycle, melted frost from the internal cooling coils channels down a dedicated drainage line and empties into this containment tray. Heat radiating from the operating compressor systematically warms the tray, causing the accumulated liquid to evaporate harmlessly into the ambient room air. Continuous exposure to operational vibrations and high localized thermal cycles can cause the plastic structure to warp, crack, or puncture over time. Typical signs that the pan requires replacement include water pooling underneath or behind the refrigerator cabinet, a sudden drop in indoor humidity regulation, or mold growth near the machine base.
