The dryer drum assembly is the rotating internal cylinder where clothing is placed to be tumble-dried. It works in conjunction with the drive belt and rollers to spin consistently while heated air circulates through the chamber. This factory assembly comes complete with the pre-attached front and rear felt lubrication seals and structural internal tumbling baffles. Over years of use, structural fatigue from heavy loads or continuous high heat can cause the metal drum walls to crack, seam splits to form, or the felt tracking boundaries to tear away. Common symptoms that this drum assembly needs replacement include a loud thumping, scraping, or rhythmic grinding noise while spinning, clothes catching and tearing on internal metal edges, severe physical vibrations, or a dryer that refuses to turn because the cylinder has become warped or out-of-round.
