This mechanical microswitch acts as an electrical interlock, signaling the primary control assembly or timer when the door or lid is closed. If the switch experiences internal contact arcing, melts from high-amperage heat, or fractures at its bracket mounts, the appliance will immediately cease operating. Common symptoms of failure include a dryer or washer that will not start, a washer that refuses to drain or agitate, or a cycle that terminates prematurely.
