Purpose

Circulates clothes through the water during wash cycles.

Details

The washplate sits at the very bottom of the top-load washing machine spin basket. Instead of using a tall central agitator pillar, it pulses and turns back and forth to create a dynamic water current that moves laundry thoroughly through the detergent solution. If the washplate is cracked or if the internal mounting splines underneath strip out from normal wear, the washer will exhibit spinning issues, fail to agitate correctly, leave clothes dirty, or make severe grinding and thumping noises.
